2024 Graduation Ceremony Student Announcement

Dear Students

It is important that you carefully read the announcement, follow the instructions and communicate with your ceremony coordinator to ensure that our ceremony program runs smoothly.
 

There is no graduation requirement to attend the ceremony. Students who are in senior year in the 2023-2024 academic year can attend the ceremony even if they cannot graduate.  Participation in the ceremony is free of charge.

Students who can participate in the 2024 Graduation Ceremony;

  1. Students who can graduate at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year.
  2. Students who cannot graduate at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year but are likely to graduate by the end of the Fall Semester of the 2024-2025 academic year,

2024 Students who will not participate in the Graduation Ceremony;

  1. Students whose graduation is postponed to the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year will participate in the Graduation ceremony in the next semester (2024-2025).

Students with disabilities or students who use a vehicle with a disabled license plate can contact our Disabled Student Office at the phone number below and request support for the issues they need on campus. Our ceremony area and stage are both accessible. 

Students will be asked for information about which faculty and department ceremony they will attend, name-surname, mobile phone number for communication, type of disability and support request.

During the ceremonies, the names of all our graduation candidate students will be broadcast on led screens. However, only the names of the students who attend the ceremony and register will be announced on the stage.

Registrations can be made by scanning the student ID card on the devices located in the student gathering halls. Students who do not have a student ID card can register with their Turkish ID number. You are kindly requested to keep your student ID card with you so that the attendance process is not slowed down and the ceremony schedule is not delayed.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that students must be present in the announced lecture halls (lecture halls on the B4 floor) 1 hour before the ceremony start time.

The name of the student who does not register for attendance will not be announced during the ceremony. Responsibility belongs to the students.
 

Due to the capacity of the ceremony area, the number of family members/viewers attending the ceremony is limited to 4 people.

Families/guests will be allowed into the ceremony area with a ceremony ticket in return for a photocopy of the graduating students' school ID card or student certificate. Please do not forget to give photocopies of your ID cards/documents to your families.

According to the Istanbul Medipol University Graduation Ceremony Regulations, the rules that students must follow are as follows;

  • Graduating students are required to wear the graduation cap and gown of our university to attend the ceremony. Students cannot attend the ceremony in robes other than Istanbul Medipol University student ceremony robes.
  • All students participating in the graduation ceremony, regardless of whether they are graduation candidates or not, may not engage in the actions specified in Article 54 of the Higher Education Law in the graduation ceremony area and during the graduation ceremony. They may not use any alcoholic, stimulant or narcotic substances. Students who are found to have committed such acts or to have used prohibited substances will be subject to disciplinary penalties regulated by the relevant article.
  • Students must follow the instructions of the academic and administrative staff in charge of the organization during preparation, rehearsal, assembly and ceremony.
  • Graduation candidate students can organize events such as proposals and celebrations they want to make between the ceremonies, in the ceremony area and among themselves by obtaining the opinion of the commission through the academic unit representative. In case of sudden requests for organizations such as proposals and celebrations during the performance of the ceremonies, the coordinator may reject the request, or the organization may be organized at the time, place and conditions indicated by the coordinator. Approved organizations cannot interfere with the flow of the ceremonies. Items such as confetti that may contaminate or damage the ceremony area cannot be used.
  • Graduation candidates may not appear on the stage with a banner or symbol other than a robe. They must get approval for the banners and symbols they will wear or carry in the ceremony area.
     

We kindly remind you that if robe purchases are postponed to the deadlines, there may be problems in providing robes. The responsibility for providing robes belongs to our students.

Student robes will only be sold at “Medipol Store” between 08.30-17.30 on WEEKDAYS.

Medipol Store is located on the 3rd floor of Kavacık South Campus.

Online sales are not available. There will be no shipping. Size fitting can be done during the robe purchase.

The sale price of the robe is 800 TL including VAT.

Due to the graduation ceremony, the appointment, shooting and sales procedures of the photo and video shootings before the ceremony (graduation souvenir photo shootings in the studio to be established on the B1 floor of Istanbul Medipol University South Campus and within the university) and during the ceremony will be carried out by Zümrüt Photography.

An appointment must be made for special shootings to be made on campus. Only paid shoots will be taken and will be printed. Photos and videos will be delivered from Medipol Store. Shipping is not available.

Photographs taken during the ceremony can be purchased from the sales points set up in the area at the end of the ceremony.

  • Banners and Symbols: All kinds of flags, banners, writings, clothing, equipment, banners and materials containing social messages, professional or national symbols that graduate students are required to wear/carry during the ceremony.
  • Graduate students and academicians may not appear on stage wearing or carrying any flags, clothes, accessories, scarves, etc. on their robes, which would interfere with the state of unity represented by the ceremony and/or harm the culture of the institution.
  • The Senate may decide not to wear/carry any banners and symbols in the ceremony area to be valid for the graduation ceremonies of the relevant year.
  • In the absence of a decision taken by the Senate, prospective graduates must obtain approval for the banners and symbols they wish to wear/carry in the ceremony area before the commencement ceremony begins.
  • Banners and symbols cannot get in the way of institutional academic dress.
  • Banners and symbols that may damage the corporate identity are not allowed.
  • Professional banners and symbols may be worn/carried with the approval of the relevant Dean/Director. The application shall be made by the department head to the Dean/Director. The Dean/Director's approval shall be notified to the graduation ceremony representative of the relevant academic unit by the department head. The representative of the relevant academic unit shall submit the professional banners and symbols to be worn/carried to the commission.
  • Other banners and symbols may be worn/carried with the approval of the commission.
  • Students who wish to carry/wear banners and symbols other than professional banners and symbols shall apply to the commission within 1 month at the latest after the announcement of the ceremony date. The application shall be made with a petition. The visual, text, content and justification of the banner and symbol must be attached to the petition. The decision of the commission shall be taken at a meeting attended by the coordinator, academic unit representatives, International Office, Press and Publications Office and the Department of Support Services. Commission decisions cannot be appealed.
  • No materials other than approved banners and symbols may be allowed in the ceremony hall.
  • Any banners or symbols that are not approved to be brought into the ceremony hall will be collected by the security teams with the knowledge of the coordinator.

  • Pets are allowed to enter the campus during graduation ceremonies, as long as the necessary conditions are met.
  • Pets will not be allowed on stage.
  • Within the scope of the Pet Entry Regulations, a pet is considered to be a domesticated cat or small breed dog registered in the inventory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, domesticated, with a chip and vaccination card, and fully vaccinated.
  • Dogs entering the ceremony must be muzzled.
  • Pets may enter the graduation ceremony area on university campuses with an “Animal Friendly Campus Entrance Permit” issued by the university veterinarian or contracted veterinarian.
  • The application must be submitted by June 17th. Applications submitted on the same day as the ceremony will not be considered.
  • It is essential that the pet is registered in the name of the prospective graduate student or the prospective graduate student's mother, father or sibling.
  • For the application, the name and surname of the student who owns the pet, the name and surname of the family member registered on the pet, contact information, the pet's name, breed, age, photo, a photo of the last vaccination page of the vaccination booklet, information about any psychological and/or physical health problems or disabilities (if any) will be requested.
  • "Animal Friendly Campus Entrance Permit" is valid only during the Ceremony.
  • The relevant document must be shown to the security teams before entering the ceremony area.
  • Security teams have the right not to allow pets that are not registered in the list created by the veterinarian and sent to the Support Services Department, even if they have a permit.
  • It is required that the information requested during the application is complete and accurate.
  • For Guide Dogs, an application for "Animal Friendly Campus Entrance Permit" must be made and a document stating that it is a guide dog must be submitted.
  • Exotic animals are not allowed in the ceremony area.
  • Prohibited dog breeds cannot enter the ceremony area even if they meet the conditions of the " Animal Friendly Campus Entrance Permit ".
  • In the case of damage to persons or property caused by pets allowed to enter the ceremony area during their stay in the ceremony area, the responsibility belongs to the pet owner. During the application, the pet owner is asked to mark that he/she has signed the undertaking regarding his/her responsibilities.
  • The pet owner is expected to take the necessary measures to ensure that the pet does not contaminate the environment due to its feeding and toilet needs.
  • In the case of excessive noise, aggression, contamination, etc. in the graduation ceremony area, the pet and the accompanying family member will be removed from the area and made to wait in the area allocated at an appropriate distance from the ceremony area.

There is a parking lot at Kavacık South Campus where the Graduation Ceremonies will be held. Pedestrian entrances and exits will be made from the main entrance of the campus. Vehicle entrances will be made from the main entrance of the campus and vehicle exits will be made from the route indicated by the directions.
