Aim | The main objective of the course is in Turkey, political, social and cultural rupture / divisions to be able to portray through the written press. In this course, the transformation of daily life and the history of popular culture in the axis of modernization of the republic will be examined. |
Course Content | This course contains; Characteristics of actors determining public sphere and political transformations. Evaluation of political historiography.,In the framework of the competition between the Ottoman bourgeoisie and the bureaucrat class, 1908 Press will be explained.,The narrative of 1923-1927 and its reflections in different newspapers will be described together and comparisons will be made.,The 1931 Free Party Experience will be analyzed from dissident and pro-government newspapers, and the arguments on which the elections are based will be explained together with the discussions on Democracy.,From 1938 to 1945, the Second World War Press will be examined and the political identity and struggles of the right and left-leaning press will be emphasized.,The political struggle in the newspapers between 1946-1950, which is called the years of transition to democracy, will be described and the functions of the publications of CHP and DP will be explained.,The period of the Democratic Party and its debates between 1950 and 1960 will be examined in two separate periods (1950-1954 and later). The reasons for the hardened attitudes towards the press following the years of prosperity in the first period of DP will be discussed. ,The changing political environment of the 1960 Military Intervention will be examined through newspapers. During this period, high circulation newspapers and magazines emerged with the developments in press techniques and national distribution. New publications and journalism understanding that will arise from the effects of this structural transformation will be explained.,Political actions between 1968-1971 and related media will be discussed in the press.,Political and cultural diversity of the seventies will be examined and the relationship between print and politics will be examined.,The dissidents and popular publications that emerged after September 12 will be analyzed and the period will be analyzed.,The changes in the press after 1989, the increase of private television and the inclusion of non-press capital in the sector will be examined.,2000s and changes with the development of the Internet.,general evaluation. |
