Department of Nutrition and Dietetics accepted to EFAD membership

Istanbul Medipol University School of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics has been accepted as a member of the European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD), founded in 1978, the most prestigious association in the field. Only three universities from Türkiye, including Istanbul Medipol University, are members of EFAD. EFAD, which operates to prevent nutritional inequalities in Europe by improving the duties and responsibilities of dietitians in healthy nutrition, provides its members with advantages in developing international collaborations. Making a statement on the subject, Prof. Gülgün Ersoy, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, stated that with EFAD membership, they will be able to provide more opportunities for our academicians and students in the international arena. Noting that academicians who have carried out pioneering studies on healthy nutrition work at Istanbul Medipol University, Ersoy said that these studies will be more visible in the international arena through EFAD. Drawing attention to the fact that EFAD membership provides many advantages to students, Ersoy said: “EFAD membership provides the opportunity to cooperate with other higher education institutions in Europe and take part in joint projects. For our graduates, there are important advantages, such as being recognized in the international arena, studying abroad, and participating in internship and exchange programs. Among the most important benefits is that our students, who are the dietitians of the future, will be able to witness and contribute to the strategic planning of their profession, as well as communicate and exchange information with the doyens of the profession.”
