Istanbul Medipol University is at the top for the third time in ‘utility model and design’

Istanbul Medipol University ranked at the top for the third time, leaving all state and foundation universities behind in the ‘number of utility models and designs with positive results’ in the Higher Education Council's (YÖK) University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2023.

The Higher Education Council (YÖK) published the “University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2023”, in which 208 universities in Türkiye are evaluated in line with the data for 2022. In the report, while analyzing the data of universities actively operating in the 2021-2022 academic year in the main fields of ‘education and training’, ‘research and development, projects and publications’, ‘internationalization’, ‘sustainability’ and ‘community service and social responsibility’, results were revealed in line with 74 sub-indicators. According to the report, Istanbul Medipol University maintained its place among the top 5 universities with the highest number of applications in the ‘number of patents, utility models or designs applied’ indicator, which is included in the ‘research and development, projects and publications’ core area, with 141. Medipol ranked at the top this year, leaving all state and foundation universities behind in the ‘number of utility models and designs with positive results’ in the same main field. Medipol also ranked first in the same indicator in the 2021 and 2022 reports. According to the same report, Istanbul Medipol University managed to rank in the top 5 among all foundation universities in the ‘number of researchers employed’, which is a sub-indicator of the main field of ‘research-development, project and publication’, and among all state and foundation universities in the sub-indicator of ‘universities with the highest water saving investment’ in the main field of ‘sustainability’.
