AimThe aim of the course is to examine the concepts of health and law through the lens of human rights within the framework of the European Union (EU) acquis. In this context, the relationship between health law and human rights from the early days of the EU to the present is examined, and what kind of attitude the European Union and its institutions display in the field of health; It is aimed to determine the contribution of the Union's institutional capacity and its authority framework in accepting the right to health as a human right, and to explain and teach the health rights provided to people living in the European Union in each right dimension.
Course ContentThis course contains; Introducing the European Union Institutions,General statement on the development of patient rights in the European Union and the European Statute on Patients' Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union,The right to take protective measures,Right to information and right to consent,right to free choice,Right to Privacy and Confidentiality,Respect for patients' time,Right to quality standards,right to benefit from innovations,The right to be free from unnecessary pain, suffering and distress,Right to personal treatment,right to complain,right to compensation,General remarks on the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and the Transfrontier Health Directive.
