The film “Uşak”, co-directed by Visual Communication Design senior students Şevval Kaynak and Oğuzhan Kara, won the best film award at the Galaxy Ultra Short Film Competition.
The winners of the Galaxy Ultra Short Film Competition organized by Samsung Türkiye have been announced. The five-minute film “Uşak”, co-directed by Şevval Kaynak and Oğuzhan Kara—senior students of Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Medipol University School of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture—was awarded the grand prize in the “University Category”. In the first phase of the two-stage competition, Kaynak and Kara made it to the top 5 out of 1,000 entries with their one-minute film “Rutin”. In addition to directing, our student Kaynak acted in the movie “Rutin”. The jury membership of the competition, which supports the discovery of future directors, was undertaken by a seven-member committee consisting of Gülse Birsel, Melikşah Altuntaş, Büşra Pekin, Kıvanç Sezer, Murat Azdemir, Aşkın Baş Yıldız, and Cihad Baytüre. Young directors Kaynak and Kara’s award-winning short films will soon be available to watch on Samsung Türkiye’s YouTube channel.
