Erasmus+ Project of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics continues

The Erasmus+ Project titled “Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia (BERNICA)”, in which the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the School of Health Sciences is among the partners, continues. For the project, “Lifelong Learning Module Training-II” was successfully completed.

The activities carried out for the Erasmus+ Project titled “Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia (BERNICA)”, in which Istanbul Medipol University School of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is among the project partners and the International Kyrgyzstan University is the coordinator, continue. For the project that aims to improve the education and research capacity of the countries in Central Asia in the field of nutrition and dietetics, academicians from our university conducted trainings in Central Asia. In this context, “Lifelong Learning Module Training-II”, which was held on March 26 and May 24 under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Indrani Kalkan in partnership with FH JOANNEUM, was successfully completed. In the training, for the subject of “Assessment of Nutritional Status” Faculty Member Dr. Eda Keskin and on “Techniques for Nutrient Intake Assessment: Digital Tools and Recent Innovations” Lecturer Merve Güney Coşkun took part as trainers. Representatives of universities from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan were also present in the training.

ACTIVITIES WILL CONTINUE
Making a statement on the training, Assoc. Prof. Indrani Kalkan said: “This event, which is carried out for the project, significantly contributes to increasing education and research capacity in the field of nutrition and dietetics in Central Asia. As Istanbul Medipol University, we are very happy to take part in this project, and we aim to carry the project further with future events.” At the end of the training, partner universities delivered presentations on various topics, such as “Malnutrition in the Elderly, Diet Quality Scores and Central Asian Dietary Habits, Nutritional Status Assessment Tools in Obesity, Importance of Bioimpedanceometry in Clinical Practice”.
