Istanbul Medipol University General Coordinatorship of Foreign Languages English Preparatory School students performed the play ‘I Hate Shakespeare’. All proceeds from the play, which was performed at the South Campus Conference Hall, were donated to Palestine. Organized by Lecturer Serkan Yar, the play was directed by Lecturer Gökçe Özgen and Lecturer Murat Güç. The play, shaped around the story of Miranda, who has prejudices against Shakespeare, offered the audience a different Shakespeare experience. The performance of the students in the play, in which the character Miranda’s prejudices against Shakespeare were dealt with humorously, made the audience both laugh and think. The entertaining play brought a modern and critical perspective to Shakespeare’s classic works, once again demonstrating that art is open to different interpretations. At the end of the show, the students’ acting performance received a long standing ovation from the audience.
