Research Assistant Kasa embarks on Antarctic Science Expedition

The 2024 list of 13 projects to be supported within the scope of the KUTUP-1001 call made by ARDEB within the framework of the conditions determined by TÜBİTAK-MAM Polar Research Institute was announced. The School of Pharmacy Research Assistant Nursu Aylin Kasa will conduct scientific research in the poles for the study in which she is a member of the project team.

In accordance with the criteria determined by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Polar Research Institute, it was decided to support 13 of the 35 projects that applied to the “KUTUP-1001” and “KUTUP Foreign Research Base Participation” 2024 calls opened by the Research Support Programmes Directorate (ARDEB). According to the result list shared with the public after the scientific evaluation process, Istanbul Medipol University School of Pharmacy Research Assistant Nursu Aylin Kasa will participate in scientific research at the poles for the study in which she is a member of the project team. The project, which will be carried out by Dr. Elif Öztürk Er from Istanbul Technical University, is titled “High Accuracy and Sensitivity Determination of Drug Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Their Metabolites in Environmental and Biological Samples from Horseshoe Island Using the Lc-Ms/Ms Method Combined with Next Generation Precursor Methods”. Between June 26 and July 25, Kasa will participate in TÜBİTAK’s TASE-IV Arctic Expedition and will conduct scientific studies on the detection of drug active ingredients in biological and environmental elements around the Svalbard Islands in the Arctic. During the expedition, Kasa will collect various samples from many strategically designated regions in the Arctic Circle and will continue to carry out studies within our university.
