Medipol hosted the opening of IFLA 2024

The 60th World Congress of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) was hosted by Istanbul Medipol University School of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture, Department of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture. The congress, which will be held with the theme “Code Red for Earth”, will discuss the measures that can be taken against the effects of the climate crisis, especially the increasing disasters.

Istanbul Medipol University hosted the opening program of the 60th World Congress of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), which will be held between 4-6 September 2024. In the event organized by the Department of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture of the School of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture, a reception was held on the B4 floor of the South Campus and a workshop on the B5 floor. Organized by the UCTEA Chamber of Turkish Landscape Architects, the congress will be attended by approximately 2 thousand experts from 80 different countries as well as Türkiye. The main theme of the congress, “Code Red for Earth”, highlights the critical role of landscape architects against the devastating effects of the climate crisis. The organization, which calls on humanity to take urgent action to prevent the problems caused by environmental crises, will continue at the Istanbul Congress Center. Practitioners, entrepreneurs, educators, researchers, students, journalists, and those interested in the impact of landscape architecture on society, economy, and culture will discuss solutions to improve the resilience of cities and natural areas at the prestigious congress, of which Istanbul Medipol University is an academic stakeholder. Throughout the congress, the increasing importance of landscape architects in combating climate change, floods, and natural disasters will be discussed in various sessions.
