‘Independent Living for Individuals with Down Syndrome’ workshop organized

Our students came together with individuals with Down syndrome at the ‘Independent Living for Individuals with Down Syndrome’ workshop hosted by Istanbul Medipol University School of Education.

The workshop of “Independent Living for Individuals with Down Syndrome” was organized by Istanbul Medipol University School of Education Special Education Teaching, the Department of Counselor Education, and Türkiye Down Syndrome Association (TDSD). As speakers, Beyzanur Erdoğan and Emre Gürcan, who have Down syndrome, TDSD Education Coordinator and Psychologist Emin Mansurgüler, and TDSD Education Specialist and Clinical Psychologist Miraç Turhal attended the event held at the South Campus. In the program, which was also followed by journalist Uğur Becerikli and Dr. Yeşim Ünveren, Beyzanur Erdoğan shared her experiences in professional life, and Emre Gürcan informed the participants about the TDSD Independent Living Program. Mansurgüler and Turhal also provided information about the activities of TDSD. At the end of the event, a workshop was organized for the students at the School of Education and individuals with Down syndrome to improve their independent living skills. In the interactive workshop, students had the opportunity to meet the participants.
